Why would one choose to download a purchase instead of receiving a CD by mail?
You get the same software either way. The download is a faster way to get the software. You will be sent by email a download link to retrieve the software. With a CD by mail you will have to wait a couple of days for USPS to deliver it. To download the software you will need a high speed internet connection such as cable or DSL.

Can I download the product if my internet connection is a dial-up connection?
No.  It takes too long over a standard phone line connection. In this case you would want to select delivery of the software on a CD via USPS.

How long should it take to download the product?
On a cable or DSL connection downloading the product should take a few minutes. If you only have a dialup connection please request the software on a CD.

Why do error messages popup when I download the products and what should I do with them?
All browsers pop up warnings when installing software from the internet. The exact warnings depend on your browser and its settings. Please rest assured that you may run our installation software without concern.

Does the software only run under Windows or can I run it on a Mac?

The software is designed to run on a Windows platform. However you can run the software on a Mac if you have a PC emulator such as VirtualPC or a Mac running Windows.

Do I need a microphone to use the software?
No microphone is required! Skill Builder Interventions make no use of a microphone. You may optionally use a microphone when performing the assessment tests. If a microphone is used, the software starts a stop watch when an item is displayed and stops it when speech activity is detected at the microphone, measuring how long it took the student to answer. An alternative to the microphone is the use of a SPACEBAR press as the student speaks his/her answer.

Why do I need to license my purchase and how do I do this?
It is an unfortunate fact of life that some people distribute software when they are not entitled to do so and the licensing process inhibits this behavior. The licensing process is relatively easy. You retrieve a code from your computer and send it to us and we return a key to that you enter into your computer, enabling your purchased products. We can perform this exchange over the phone as well.

Can I use my purchase with more than one person?
Typically the software is licensed for a single computer. On a given computer there are no restrictions on how many people can use the software.

How do I download my purchased items?
To download your purchased items you will need a high speed internet connection. After your purchase is made, an email will be sent to you with the necessary links to download and install your purchased items.

What materials do you have to help me learn to use your products?
As with learning to use any new program, there is a learning curve our products. We try to make this process as easy as possible in several ways. There are narrated demos of the software in use with step-by-step descriptions of how to use the software products. The software has extensive context–sensitive online help that one can access easily. One can call our toll free phone number should these sources prove insufficient.

Do I have to make a purchase through your store on your WEB site or can I make a purchase over the phone?
It is perfectly fine to call our toll free number to make an order or to get help deciding which products to order.

I am a teacher and need to run over a school network. Can I do this?
Yes. We have a version of our software specifically designed for network use.

What are the minimum requirements for my computer to be able to run your software?
The software is designed for the PC platform but may be run on a Mac with a PC emulator such as VirtualPC or a Mac running Windows.

Can I use your software on more than one computer?
Typically a purchase is for a single computer unless the networked version is purchased. We do offer additional computers at a reduced price.
